The purpose of Reno Gayla Film Festival is to encourage the appreciation and furtherance of gay-, lesbian-, bisexual-, and transgender-themed cinema. We want to promote it both as an art and as a medium of information and education, by creating a forum for showing and discussing LGBT film.

RGFF History
The Reno Gayla was formed by a group of Reno-ites who believe there is a need for more queer cinema in our community and hoped that others would agree.  We began meeting in the summer of 2008 to formalize a vision and a Board of Directors who then developed by-laws and plans necessary to form a 501(c)(3) organization.
What's Next?
We started by offering free film showings in partnership with UNR and the Queer Student Union who have been tremendously supportive and helpful.

Due to budget cuts and the cost of showing a film in a public venue ($250-$450 each!!), UNR will not be able to provide the same financial support this season.  We determined that we would focus our efforts in keeping it as an annual film festival.  We will have occasional social and fundraising events to help build towards the $2,000 we need to put on the festival, so keep an eye out for those!
